How to Prepare for Your Family Photography Session at Ola Molik Photography – Glasgow Family Photographer

Are you planning a family photography session and wondering how to get the most out of your time in front of the camera? As a Glasgow family photographer at Ola Molik Photography, I understand how important it is to capture genuine, joyful moments of your family in a relaxed, natural way. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, marking a milestone, or simply preserving the beauty of everyday love, I’m here to help you feel prepared and confident before your session.

As a photographer with years of experience in creating family portraits in Glasgow, I’ve created this simple guide to help you prepare for your upcoming studio session. Let’s make the most of our time together and create images you’ll treasure forever.

What to Expect During Your Family Photography Session

Your family session at my Glasgow home studio will last up to 2 hours, giving us plenty of time to capture a variety of beautiful portraits. This relaxed pace allows little ones to settle in, and gives us the flexibility to include outfit changes, different props, and natural breaks when needed.

You’re welcome to bring up to three changes of clothes for your family, although I usually recommend only two outfit changes for babies and younger children. From my experience as a Glasgow family photographer, little ones can get tired or lose interest quickly, so keeping things simple can help us get the best smiles and natural expressions.

What to Wear – Tips for Picture -Perfect Outfits

Choosing the right clothes can make a big difference in your final images. Once we’ve discussed and agreed on a color scheme for your session, here are a few wardrobe tips to follow:

* Avoid big logos and loud patterns. These can distract from the connection and emotion in your portraits.
* Keep it simple and coordinated. Soft, neutral tones always work beautifully, but don’t be afraid to add a pop of color—I love color!
* Comfort is key. Choose clothes that your children can move around in easily and that you feel good wearing.
* Think timeless. These images will hang on your walls for years, so it’s best to avoid trendy pieces that may not age well.

If you’re not sure what to wear, I’m always happy to help you plan outfits in advance. Send over photos or ideas, and we’ll work together to create a cohesive, flattering look for the whole family, with some tips from your Glasgow family photographer.

Props, Personal Touches, and Special Celebrations

Being a creative professional, I love using props to add personality and variety to your session in Glasgow. My studio is filled with a wide selection of beautiful, hand-picked props—from rustic crates to delicate floral touches and playful children’s accessories.

If your session is celebrating a birthday, feel free to bring along a number balloon or even a small cake to add a personal, festive feel. These little details make the session more meaningful and fun, especially for younger children. Plus, they help tell the story of your family’s current chapter.

Creating Memories That Matter

Family photos are so much more than just pictures—they are a record of your story, your love, and your growth. As one of the trusted Glasgow family photographers, I feel honored to be part of that journey with you. My sessions are always relaxed, child-friendly, and focused on creating an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

When you arrive at my studio in Glasgow, we’ll start with some natural family portraits, then move on to playful, candid moments using props or outfit changes. We’ll adapt the session to your children’s energy levels and personalities, making sure the atmosphere stays light and fun throughout.

Final Thoughts and Booking Information

Whether this is your first professional family session or your tenth, I’m here to guide you through every step. I’ll help you plan your outfits, choose the best props, and ensure the session is stress-free and memorable for the whole family.

If you’re searching for a family photographer in Glasgow who combines experience with creativity and a deep love for storytelling, I would be delighted to welcome you into my studio. Let’s create something beautiful together—something that will still make you smile ten, twenty, or fifty years from now.

A Hidden Gem for a Magical Children’s Photoshoot in Glasgow

Springtime Story from a Family Photographer in Glasgow

As a family photographer in Glasgow, I’m always on the lookout for new and beautiful places for photo sessions. There’s something magical about finding a spot that’s just perfect—peaceful, natural, and full of charm. Today, I want to share a little story with you. It’s about how I discovered a stunning location for a children’s photoshoot in Glasgow, and how it reminded me why I absolutely love what I do.

Let me take you back to March. It was still early spring, and although the days were getting longer, the trees were bare, and the flowers hadn’t quite woken up yet. One weekend, I decided to take my family for a walk. We needed some fresh air, and I had a feeling we’d find somewhere special.

We stumbled across a little-known path just outside the city. It was quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by tall trees. Even though there wasn’t much greenery at the time, I felt something. A little voice inside me whispered, “Come back here in May.” So, I made a mental note and tucked the memory away.

Fast forward to yesterday.

I was coming home from an event when that same little voice popped back into my head. “What about your secret location?” it said. Without thinking twice, I parked my car nearby, grabbed my camera, and set off on foot.

As I turned the corner and entered the woodland path, I stopped in my tracks. The transformation was breathtaking. The long trees that were once bare now formed a dreamy green tunnel. The ground was covered in wild garlic flowers, their soft white blooms dancing in the breeze. It was like something out of a fairytale.

That’s when I saw them.

A woman was sitting on a picnic blanket with her three young children. They looked so peaceful, enjoying the warm afternoon. The kids were playing, laughing, and hugging their mum. It was such a pure and beautiful moment.

As a photographer, my instinct kicked in. I approached them gently and introduced myself. I told the mother about the beauty of this location and asked if she’d be comfortable with me taking a few photos. To my delight, she smiled and said yes.

Let me tell you—these children were amazing. So full of life, joy, and innocence. They were comfortable, natural, and absolutely beautiful. It felt like we were capturing something timeless, something real. The light was perfect. The trees swayed softly above us. The wild garlic made the whole scene glow.

This is why I love being a family photographer in Glasgow.

It’s not just about taking photos—it’s about capturing memories. It’s about freezing those little moments of connection, laughter, and love. And sometimes, the most magical photo sessions happen when you least expect them.

Now, I have some exciting news!

Because I’ve completely fallen in love with this spot, I want to offer you something special. I’m opening up limited sessions for a Glasgow outdoor photoshoot at this exact location. It’s perfect for families with young children, siblings, or even just a beautiful mother-and-child session.

For a short time only, I’m offering a photo session on location here for just £99. This includes 4 fully edited digital images, delivered in an online gallery. Of course, you’ll have the option to purchase more if you fall in love with the full gallery (and I think you just might!).

Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, want to update your family portraits, or simply want to capture your little ones before they grow another inch—this is a wonderful chance to do so in a natural, relaxed setting.

Outdoor sessions are full of life. Children feel free. They can run, jump, explore, and just be themselves. There’s no pressure to pose. No stiff studio lights. Just nature, light, and real emotions. That’s where the magic happens.

Why choose an outdoor children’s photoshoot in Glasgow?

As someone who specializes in photographing kids and families, I know how to make everyone feel at ease. I give gentle direction, but I also step back and let those natural moments unfold. Your gallery will be a mix of candid and gently posed images, full of love and laughter.

What to expect from your photo session on location:

  • A relaxed 30-minute session at this stunning, wild garlic-filled location
  • 4 professionally edited images included
  • A private online gallery
  • The option to buy additional images if you wish
  • Lots of fun, connection, and beautiful memories captured forever

These spring sessions are perfect for families, siblings, and even maternity or mum-and-me photos. I’ll be offering just a few slots while the wild garlic is in bloom, so if you’d like to grab one—don’t wait!

Let’s create something beautiful together.
This hidden gem is waiting, and I’d love for you to experience it with your children. If you’ve been thinking about booking a family photographer in Glasgow, now is the perfect time. Let’s capture these fleeting moments before the season changes again.
