Cake smash ! Is your little one turning one? You have to book it for your child! There is no better way to celebrate than with a beautiful photo session. Specially personalized theme just for your little bubba’s turning one. Included is a clean portrait taken with parents or siblings before we get messy, as well as a nice warm bubble bath afterwards. Cake smashes are growing in popularity and they’re a lot of fun for everyone involved! It’s often the first time the child has eaten much cake. It is the first time they’ve been allowed to do whatever they want with it. And this is their first time whether it’s face-planting into it, putting icing in their hair, or knocking the whole thing over then crawling through it. It is such an amazing experience! I provide the unique opportunity of capturing your baby’s curiosity and personality at a young age. It is my pleasure to work with you and your family to craft a special photo experience just for your toddler. I have a few tips for those of you that are considering booking one of these sessions.
1. Don’t assume they will dive right in
All parents hope that their little one will dive in and make a mess of the cake. That’s what you are paying for! But that doesn’t always happen and that’s okay. Not every child wants to dive right in and make a mess no matter what tricks we try. It’s important to know that even if they don’t turn their cake into a gooey pile of crumbs, I am still able to catch fun images of them poking at it or daintily picking of bits of icing or decorations.
2. Come prepared for mess
One thing parents don’t often realise is that they too will likely become covered in cake and icing during the session (picture your little one crawling straight towards you with icing coated hands), so a change of clothes for everyone, not just the birthday boy or girl, is a good idea.
3. Customise your session
I encourage my clients to make the cake smash session their own. If you have a specific idea, prop or colour scheme in mind you can contact me any time to discuss the options.
